Services Restorations

Dentistry is a pillar of Dental Medicine in so far as it manages to combine dental aesthetics with the main objective of Dental Medicine, which is the perfect alignment of the entire masticatory system.

This page illustrates the care and attention given to Previdente patients. We would like to point out that we are currently implementing a Quality Management System in view of obtaining Quality certification (ISO 9001).

Restorations

When is restoration necessary?

Restorations are required as a result of tooth decay or breakage. It becomes necessary to restore the altered teeth in order to restore their anatomy and full function within the entire system.

What types of materials are used in restoration?

Amalgam

  • metallic restorations, greyish in colour, basically consisting of silver and mercury;

  • extremely durable;

  • good resistance to bacterial infiltrations.

Resin compound

  • aesthetic restorations;
  • good durability;
  • delicate technique.

Glass Ionomer

  • restoration of the neck of a tooth;

  • more resistant to bacterial infiltration than resin due to the release of fluoride.

What type of care should be taken with restorations?

Greater care should be taken than with natural teeth, namely:

  • avoid chewing very hard food because it can fracture the restoration work;
  • even without symptoms, periodic check-ups should be conducted with X-rays;
  • brush meticulously with “Elgydium” toothpaste (maintains the clinical performance of the restorations);
  • use “Elgydium” collutories (mouth wash product) to prevent reincidence.

Inlays

What is an inlay?

The word “inlay” means “to lay a thing in the substance of something else so that their surfaces are flush.” However, in Dental Medicine the word “inlay” is used to refer to a component made of metal, resin or porcelain that is embedded into a tooth in order to reconstruct it.

How is it attached to the tooth?

Metallic inlays can be cemented or glued, while resin or porcelain inlays (better aesthetic effect) are glued to the tooth using appropriate adhesive.

What are the advantages of a metal inlay?

Much more advantageous: adaptation, resistance, comfort, protection of the remainder of the crown, recovery of the grinding capacity of the teeth, etc.

The only disadvantages are aesthetics and the fact that the work takes longer to execute.
