This is a pink substance that when applied to teeth and the teeth rinsed with water, remains in the areas where bacterial plaque causing tooth decay is present. As you can see in the photo, what appears to be clean may not be; therefore, you should follow your dentist’s instructions, which not only include brushing your teeth after every meal, but doing so correctly!

Some advice:

• 1. You should only bring someone with you into the examination room for your first visit. Gradually, you need to learn to trust your dentist and strengthen your relationship with him or her over time.
• 2. Don’t be afraid to talk to your dentist about your fears. He or she is your friend and is concerned about your health. Dentists have studied hard to treat you and they apply their knowledge to help you.
